Answer 1

(1) What is answer 1 to your EQ?
A makeup artist needs to have a  thorough understanding of the anatomic structure of their client's face in order to effectively apply makeup.

(2) What possible evidence do you have to support this answer?
  • While attending Lebec Atelier I've learned that it's very important to be able to look at the client and see what needs to be enhanced and what needs to be hidden. From there the artisit decides what kind of makeup would compliment the client's facial features the most and play down the least attractive.
  • With my service learner I have been informed and witnessed that not only do I need to know the anatomy of the face but also understand skin types and how fix it. If the skin isn't prepared with moisturizer then the makeup doesn't apply well and is difficult to work with.
  • The Art and Science of Professional Makeup has chapters going into depth about the facial structures and how other artists approach it. As well as the functions of the body.
(3) What source(s) did you find this evidence and/or answer?
  • Lebec Makeup Atelier
  • Service Learner: Alicia Y.
  • Book: The Art and Science of Professional Makeup

REVISED: Independent Component Plan Approval

1) For my independent component I will attend Lebec Makeup Atelier. While attending I will train  towards my Pro Beauty Makeup Certificate.
2) Twice a week four hours a day I will attend and be taught many things. I will learn product knowledge, consumer awareness, anatomy of the face, color theory, and ethnic backgrounds. To complete the course I need 10 hours of fieldwork and 46 hours in class. I will have to scout my own models and provide my own makeup. To complete the 60 hours my teacher Lebec will have me work at the Ontario Art Walks that they participate in.
(3) How does your independent study component relate to your EQ?  It greatly relates to my EQ because I will go through the same thing as other starting makeup artist. I myself will become a makeup artist. I will learn everything about the cosmetic world and create my own signature look. I will have to know my products and how to treat my costumers.

Effective Learner: So far throughout my senior project I feel like I've gained so much knowledge about makeup. It's more than making a pretty face. I've learned past that going into face anatomy, color correctness, types of acne, and to keep your station clean. With out that kind of information I would have the wrong idea on what makeup is.

Effective Communicator: For my service learning it has been a little difficult doing it because my service learner has a busy schedule. I understand that she has a lot going on and I'm thankful that she's helping me with my project. We would set up dates for my service learning but she wouldn't follow through. I'm an effective communicator because I would keep calling and calling to start my hours instead of sitting around waiting for her. It has worked because I'm getting hours done and enjoy what I'm doing.
