Senior Project Presentation 1

Senior Project Presentation 1: Where did mascara come from?

Objective: Students will learn how mascara was derived from Water Cosmetique

Procedure:
1) I will ask the class if anyone knows where mascara came from.

2) I'll start off by saying that mustaches were a very popular thing in the 19th century. Since they were so popular there were many products that were made to shape and style them. Signs of gray appeared and if men wanted to hide it they would temporally stain their beard by using Water Cosmetique.

3) Visual: Poster with pictures of mascara/ Water Cosmetique

3) Explain what a Water Cosmetique is

4) How it was used in the theater

5) By 1910 it started to be called mascara and was now used outside the theater and being manufactured for everyday use.

6) I'll conclude it by asking if everyone understood how Water Cosmetique became mascara and if anyone knows how to properly apply it. If no one has the correct procedure of applying mascara I will explain how to do so.
