Revised: Science Fair Proposal

1. What is your hypothesis?
If there is a specific ingredient in a mascara then it will be more waterproof than other mascaras.
2. Identify the dependent (produced), independent (manipulated) and control variables in your hypothesis.
The dependent is the mascara running. The independent is fluids used. The control is the same mascara.
3. What is the connection between your science fair project and your senior project EQ?
My connection between my science fair project and my senior EQ is that in order to be a good makeup artist you should know all your products. If someone came up to me asked which is the best waterproof mascara I would answer them right away and have facts behind it since I've tested them.
4. How will you perform the experiment?  Include the equipment you plan on using.
I will first buy four different store brand waterproof mascaras. Then I will have four different dishes for each mascara. I will then mark the dish with each mascara and pour a solution on it.The let it stand for two minutes. After the two minutes are over I will check them to see which ones ran the most. After finding out which one runs the least I will have to find out the ingredient that makes it waterproof. With that ingredient I will have to compare it to other mascaras and see why it works or why it doesn't.
5. Which category will your project be listed under?  (For a full list of categories, go to the iPoly Physics webpage, then to the Science Fair tab.) Chemistry.
